Joy — a private personal assistant.
Last updated 1 October 2026.
Joy is a personal assistant application operated by one individual for their own private use. It is not a public service, it has no other users, and it holds no customer accounts.
The application accesses the following data belonging to its single operator, and only for the purpose of assisting that operator:
Information is used only to carry out tasks the operator requests, such as producing a daily briefing, triaging email, or creating a calendar event. It is never used for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond serving the operator.
No information is sold, rented or shared with third parties for their own purposes. Information is not used to train third party models. Data is processed by the service providers required to operate the application (for example, an email or calendar provider), solely so the application can function.
Access credentials are stored in the operating system's secure keychain on the operator's own device. Summaries and notes produced by the application are stored locally on that device. Information is kept only as long as it is useful to the operator and can be removed by the operator at any time.
The application runs on the operator's own personal computer. Credentials are held in the system keychain rather than in plain text, and access is limited to the operator's own accounts.
Because there is a single operator and no other users, there is no third party whose data is held. The operator can revoke the application's access at any time through their own Google account settings, and can delete any stored data by removing it from their own device.
